Question : New Law for Higher Educational Institutions

(a) whether the Government proposes to enact a new law to bring higher
educational institutions of the country on par with international standards;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the present status of the said proposal;
(c) whether the Government has invited suggestions of various organisations and
experts in this regard; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the salient features of the proposed new law
along with the ways in which the said regulation is expected to improve the quality
of higher education in the country?

(a) to (d) Consequent upon the announcement in the budget speech, 2016-17, a
regulatory architecture for enabling ten public and ten private institutions to
emerge as World-Class Teaching and Research Institutions is being worked out.
