Question : TELECOM FACILITIES



(a) whether the government have received representations from the public representatives to set up a separate TDM office in Dahod under the Godhra District in Gujarat;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the action taken in this regard;

(c) the time by which TDM office is likely to be set up in Dahod;

(d) the number of persons on the waiting list for telephone connections in Dahod region of Gujarat;

(e) the number of new telephone connections provided in the said region during the last three years; and

(f) the number of new telephone connections proposed to be provided there during 2000-2001?

(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. Representation was received for bifurcating Godhra Telecom District in the two Telecom Districts, viz Dahod and Godhra. A Telecom District (Secondary Switching Area-SSA) is the basic unit of operation for the purpose of administration, charging, routing and numbering plan. S.S.A is generally not bifurcated because of operational and administrative reasons.

(c) Dahod is a part of Godhra SSA and no separate TDM office is proposed to be opened there. But a D.E. has been posted at Dahod.


(d) The waiting list of Dahod region is 771 as on 29-2-2000.

(a) Telephone connection provided in Dahod region :

During 1999-2000, 1442 connections have been provided upto February, 2000. Another 1000 telephone connections are likely to be provided in March, 2000.

(f) Approximately 3,000 telephone connections are planned to be provided during 2000-2001 in Dahod region.
