Question : Extension of routes in Madhya Pradesh

(a) the surveys conducted for construction of new railway routes and extension of existing routes in Madhya Pradesh, district and route-wise;
(b) the names of routes out of the above on which the construction is prioritised or proposed to be prioritised;
(c) whether the survey for a new railway route from Katangi to Seoni under Seoni-Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh has been sanctioned;
(d) if so, whether the survey has been completed in this regard; and
(e) whether it is proposed to sanction the construction of the said route and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Railway projects are not surveyed district wise but zone-wise as Indian Railways’ network spans across various Districts/States boundaries. During the last three years and current financial year, surveys for 19 new railway lines have been completed falling fully/partly in the State of Madhya Pradesh. Details are appended.

(b) Out of above, two new line projects namely Budni-Indore (205 km) and Badi Sadri-Neemuch (49 km) have been sanctioned.
(c) Yes, Sir.
(d) No, Sir.
(e) Decision to sanction the project is taken after examination of survey report on merits including its financial viability.
