(a) whether the Union Government has received proposals from various State Governments, particularly from the Government of Gujarat for matching Central assistance for construction of Babu Jagjivan Ram Hostels and residential schools for Scheduled Caste boys & girls under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the action taken by the Government thereon and the quantum of Central assistance released so far and likely to be released for the purpose?

(a) to (c) Yes, Sir. Central assistance amounting to Rs.109.56 lakhs has been released
to the Government of Gujarat during 2006-07 for construction of one hostel each at
Babu Jagjivanram Pratisthan (Government Girls Hostel) at Mehsana and Junagarh.
The State-wise release of central assistance under the Centrally Sponsored
Scheme of Hostels for SC girls and boys during the year 2006-07 is at Annexure-I.
