Question : State Education Boards

(a) whether the Government proposes to close the State level primary, secondary and
higher secondary boards in the country; and
(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b): No Madam, Education falls under entry 25 of the Concurrent list of 7th
Schedule of the Constitution of India and the education boards in India are governed
by their respective rules and regulations. The States have their own laws to govern
school education that includes board examinations also. The Education Boards may be
set up by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or by an Executive Order of
Central/State Government.
There is no proposal before the Government, Ministry of Human Resource
Development, to close the State level Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary boards
in the country.
