THE MINISTER OF STATE OF THE MINISTRY OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI SUBODH KANT SAHAI)
(a): A statement showing the number of food parks in the
country approved statewise for assistance by Ministry of
Food Processing Industries is annexed.
(b) & (c): The Ministry of Food Processing Industries does
not set up food parks of its own. The Ministry provides
financial assistance @ 25% for general areas and 33-1/3% for
difficult areas subject to a maximum of Rs. 4 crores for
specified common facilities as per plan parameters. The
Ministry has approved 6 food parks in Madhya Pradesh. The
total cost outlay of the six projects is over Rs. 49 crores.
(d) to (f): All implementing agencies of food parks are
required to send quarterly reports on physical and financial
progress of the food parks. The Ministry monitors the
progress of implementation of food parks. The last parkwise
review was conducted in July 2004. There is progress in a
number of food parks in terms of construction of common
facilities and allotment of plots to prospective
entrepreneurs. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries
had assigned a study to Entrepreneurship Development
Institute of India, Ahmedabad to assess the progress of 10
food parks & the report has been submitted to the Minisry.
