Question : Manufacturing of Rapid Rail

(a) whether the Government proposes to manufacture rapid rail in the country under “Make in India” programme;

(b) if so, whether the Government has taken any steps in this direction so far; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Ministry of Railways does not have orders at present for manufacture of coaches for rapid rail projects like Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System.

(b) and (c) Do not arise.
