Question : Delhi Police Recruitment

(a) whether it is a fact that Delhi Police and its employees/officers come under the Central government in spite of having a Government in Delhi;

(b) if so, whether the vacancy for Delhi Police recruitment is done only in Delhi, despite it being under the control of the Government;

(c) the reason for conducing the recruitment examination only in Delhi, which is unfair to other candidates of the country;

(d) whether the Government proposes to include candidates from other States for recruitment in Delhi Police and conduct examinations in other metropolitan cities and if so, the metropolitan in which recruitment examination likely to be conducted; and

(e) if not, the reasons thereofor?

(a) : As per the special provisions with respect to Delhi contained in Article 239 AA(3)(a) of the Constitution of India, public order, police and land and matters connected therewith, fall under the domain of the Central Government. Delhi Police is governed by The Delhi Police Act, 1978 and it functions under the superintendence of the Administrator, i.e Lt. Governor, Delhi.
(b): The direct recruitment for all the posts in Delhi Police is conducted on pan India basis through Staff Selection Commission.

(c) to (e): Does not arise in view of above.
