(a): the number of cases relating to allotment of retail and wholesale dealership of L.P.G., petrol , kerosene and diesel pending as on date, State-wise;
(b): whether the cases of allotment of such dealerships particularly in Bihar have been pending for so many years;
(c): if so; the reasons therefor; and
(d): the time by which these cases are likely to be disposed of?

Statement referred to in reply to parts(a) to (d) of the Lok Sabha Starred Question No.68 for 27.7.2000 regarding allotment of dealership of LPG, Petrol etc.
(a) to (d): At present 2873 LPG distributorships, 2101 retail outlet dealerships(Petrol-Diesel pumps) and 392 SKO-LDO (Kerosene) dealerships are pending for selection through interviews by the Dealer Selection Boards (DSBs). The Statewise details are given in the Annexure.
The selection of dealers/distributors for some of the locations could not take place owing to the non-functioning of the Dealer Selection Boards on account of the announcement of General Elections 1999 and the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct and the dissolution of these Boards subsequently. Now 57 new DSBs have been set up, which include 7 for Bihar for early selection of dealers/distributors. Selection is made in a phased manner, and it may not be possible at this stage to indicate the exact time frame for completion of selection for the pending locations.
