Question : World Bank Loan for Rural Employment

(a) whether the World Bank has recently advanced any loan for creation of rural employment in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the States/UTs identified for the said employment programme; and

(d) the funds allocated so far, under this programme, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (c): The Government is implementing Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY – NRLM) across the country (except Delhi and Chandigarh) with the objective of organizing the rural poor women into Self Help Groups (SHGs). National Rural Livelihoods Project (NRLP) is a World Bank funded project being implemented under the aegis of DAY - NRLM. The total amount of IDA credit being received under NRLP is US$500 million and the project duration is July, 2011 to June, 2018. The objective of NRLP is to increase effectiveness of the resources being utilized under NRLM through professionalizing the overall program management and moving towards a results-based approach throughout the country. NRLP is being implemented in select blocks of 13 States viz. Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
