(a) to (c) : No reports of damaging electrical appliances in homes and
establishments causing fatal accidents in the country due to electricity
fluctuations have been received by the Government. Government of India has
notified appropriate regulations called `Central Electricity Authority (Measures
Relating to Safety and Electricity Supply) Regulations, 2010` which is
applicable throughout India. Further, as per section 42 of the Electricity Act,
2003: `It shall be the duty of a distribution licensee to develop and maintain an
efficient, coordinated and economical distribution system in his area of supply
and to supply electricity in accordance with the provisions contained in this
Act.` State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs) are entrusted with
overseeing the performance of the licensees under their jurisdiction. Licensees
are to comply with the standards of performance as laid down by the
appropriate Commissions.
