(a) and (b): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) on Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries has provided an amount of Rs.33.35 crore to the Government of Gujarat during last three years for development of fisheries and aquaculture including pisciculture in the State. Out of this, the Government of Gujarat has utilized an amount of Rs.3.61 crore for the purpose during the said period. Under the CSS, the central funds are released to the State Governments/Union Territories (UTs) based on the detailed proposals submitted by them.
(c) and (d): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the CSS inter-alia provides financial assistance to the State Governments/UTs to support the fishermen for Motorization of Traditional Craft, Procurement of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) boats, Replacement of wooden/traditional boats, Open sea cage culture, Seaweed cultivation, Bivalve culture and Pearl culture in marine water. The CSS also provides financial assistance for establishment of fish feed mill, Development of Post Harvest infrastructure such as Ice plants, Cold Storages, Ice plants-cum-cold storages and development of fish harbours/fish landing centre and taking up aquaculture activities. The facilities provided under the Scheme are also attributed towards creation of gainful employment opportunity to fishers, fish farmers and fish workers. The Government of Gujarat has reported that 1180 hacter water area has been allotted to 259 beneficiaries for brackish water aquaculture, one shrimp hatchery and two feed mills have been established during the last three years. Further, 1,915 beneficiaries are engaged in fish seed rearing and 2.13 lakhs active fishermen are engaged in fisheries activities in the State.
