Question : CONFERENCE OF CHIEF SECRETARIES



(a) whether a conference of Chief Secretaries of various States organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances was held recently in New Delhi ;

(b) if so, the details of discussions held and outcome thereof; and

(c) the action taken by the Government in the light of decision taken in the Conference?

(a)to(c) : Yes, sir. A conference of chief secretaries was organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances on 20th April, 2007 in New Delhi. During this conference, discussions were held on a wide range of issues relating to governance, internal security, food security, improving business climate. Progress in programmes like Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, National Rural Health Mission etc.were reviewed.Some State Governments presented their initiatives for improving governance.
