Question : DATA ON OFFENCES



(a) whether the Customs Department developed a software called data on offences, smuggling, seizures, investigations, evasion and rewards (DOSSIER) to check offenders at airports;

(b) if so, whether the software become operational;

(c) if so, the results achieved so far; and

(d) if not, the time by which it is likely to be operated?

(a) to (d): No, Sir. No such software has been developed to check offenders at airports. However Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has developed a software called Data on offences, smuggling, seizures, investigations, evasions and rewards (DOSSIER) only for tabulation of data relating to seizure, confiscation etc. Similarly, some of the Customs Commissionerates have developed need based software mainly for storage of information about seizure, confiscation etc. These softwares are not cpable of detecting any offenders at the airports.
