(a) the number of Indian Information Technology professionals in developed countries of the world;

(b) the number of Information Technology professionals required in India in the last 5 to 10 years;

(c) the cost of educating Information Technology professionals in the country; and

(d) the manner in which gap between demand and supply of Information Technology professionals would be fulfilled?

(a): No data is maintained by the Government in respect of Indian I.T. professionals working in developed countries.
(b): The IT Task Force has set a target of US$ 50 billion of Software export by the year 2008 and this target has been accepted by the Government. The Mckinsey report has estimated that a total of 2.2 million professionals would be required in the IT sector by the year 2008 to achieve the above target.
(c): The cost of educating information technology professionals in the country varies both in the formal and non-formal sector depending upon the type of course and its duration.
(d): The issue here is mainly one of quality and not that of numbers and it is the endeavour of the Government to continuously upgrade the quality of the education.
