Question : Infrastructure Development in Amaravati

(a) whether it has come to the notice of the Government that Capital Region Development Authority with the help of McKinsie and CRISIL which is looking after constructing new capital Amaravati for Andhra Pradesh has estimated that Rs.51,000 crores would be required for construction of infrastructure projects in the new capital;

(b) if so, the manner in which the Union Government is extending the helping hand to CRDA and State Government in developing infrastructure in the region; and

(c) the details of works done by the Union Government so far in compliance with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014?

(a): No, Sir. However, Government of Andhra Pradesh has informed that the estimated cost of construction for holistic development of new capital city of Amaravati is Rs. 1.09 lakh crore and that for development of Phase - I, the estimated cost is Rs. 51,687 crore.

(b) & (c): Under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has released an amount of Rs.1,500 crore as support for creation of new capital city. In addition, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has released an amount of Rs.1,000 croreas ‘One Time Special Financial Assistance’ for creation of essential urban infrastructure for the new capital region of the State of Andhra Pradesh.
