(a) the percentage of land prone to natural calamities including earthquakes in the country, State and calamity-wise; and

(a): About 58.6 percent of the landmass of India is prone to earthquakes of moderate to very high intensity. An area over 40 million hectare (12 percent of land) is prone to floods. Out of the 7516 km long coastline close to 5,700 km is prone to cyclone and tsunamis. About 68 per cent of cultivable land is vulnerable to drought. About 15 per cent of our country covering over 0.49 million square kilometers is prone to landslides. The Himalayan and Trans-Himalayan mountains are susceptible to avalanches.
