Question : CORRUPTION CASES AGAINST DDG (TB)



(a) whether DDG(TB) is an expert on Tuberculosis;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons for appointing him as DDG(TB) inspite of corruption cases pending against him;

(d) whether any investigation is going on against DDG(TB) for the purchases made of microscopes;

(e) if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b) DDG(TB) is an expert in Public Health/Community Medicine. He has rich experience in management of various National health programmes. He has been the Programme Manager of National TB Control programme since July, 1996. He has also been an international consultant on TB Control. For his contribution in the fight against Tuberculosis in India, he has recently been awarded the `Public Health, Karel Styblo Prize` by International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, for year 2000.

(c) Does not arise as there are no corruption cases against him.

(d) No, Sir.
