(a) the details of complaints received by the Government alleging violence and manhandling by police personnel and the action taken against the guilty personnel during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise including NCT of Delhi; and
(b) the preventive steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): State/ UT wise cases registered, police personnel charge-sheeted and police personnel convicted under various offences by police during 2012-2014 is enclosed at Annexure-I. State/UT wise Human right violations cases is at Annexure-II.
(b): “Public Order” and “Police” being State subjects as per the provisions of the Constitution of India, the responsibilities of maintaining law and order, registration and prosecution of crimes rest primarily with the respective State Governments/Union Territory Administrations.
