Question : Allotment of Land by DDA

(a) whether the Ministry has any role in formulating the policy implemented by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and if not, the reasons therefor;

(b) whether DDA acquires and allot land under the Act of Indian Constitution;

(c) if so, the details thereof of the land allotment policy of the DDA and if not, the reasons therefor;

(d) whether DDA is a non-profitable institution;

(e) if so, the Act under which auction of residential and institutional plots are being done;

(f) if not, whether compensation is being given to the farmers whose land has been acquired and if not, the reasons therefor;

(g) whether adequate number of CNG stations are being installed in Delhi; and

(h) if so, the number of CNG stations opened during the last one year?

(a) In order to develop Delhi in a planned manner, Delhi Development (DD) Act, 1957 was enacted, in which role of Central Government is clearly defined. While formulating policies, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) seeks approval of the Central Government as and when required.

(b) &(c) Under the DD Act, 1957, Delhi Development Authority has the power to acquire, hold, manage and dispose of land and other properties. The land developed by DDA or under its control and supervision is dealt as per the DDA (Disposal of Developed Nazul Land) Rules, 1981 as amended from time to time.

(d) DDA is an autonomous organization and raises its finance in accordance with provisions of DD Act, 1957.

(e) & (f) Auctions are being done under the provisions of DDA (Disposal of Developed Nazul Land) Rules, 1981. The compensation is deposited with the Land Acquisition Office, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, which acquires land and gives compensation to the land owners.

(g) & (h) Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the supplier of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in NCT of Delhi, has informed that they have set up a network of 438 CNG stations in the national capital, which are adequate in catering to the demand of CNG run vehicles in the city. IGL has set up 23 CNG Stations in Delhi during Financial Year 2020-21.
