Question : Compensation for Crop Loss

(a) the number of representations received by the Union Government from the State Government of Kerala claiming compensation for agricultural loss due to droughts during the last three years, year-wise;

(b) the details of assistance sought, assistance approved and released so far;

(c) the details of the status of pending representations;

(d) whether the State Government of Kerala has also sought assistance from the Union Government for revival of agricultural sector; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): State Government of Kerala had sought an assistance of Rs.1019.90 Crore from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) in the wake of drought during 2016-17. The High Level Committee considered the recommendations of the Sub-Committee of National Executive Committee based on the report of the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) and approved an amount of Rs.112.05 Crore from NDRF, subject to the adjustment of 50% of balance available in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) account for the instant disaster. The net amount released to the State Government of Kerala was Rs. 31.72 Crore on this account.
State Government of Kerala has not submitted any memorandum during 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 (so far) seeking financial assistance from NDRF in the wake of drought. Hence, no representation of the State Government of Kerala is pending in this regard.
