Question : Widening of NH-3

(a) whether traffic flow rate on Piprai-Nirawali section on National Highway (NH-3) is very high at 36000 P.C.U. necessitating its conversion into six-lane at the earliest;

(b) if so, whether the Government proposes to widen the said road into six-lane under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and if so, the details thereof;

(c) the time by which the said work is likely to be started and completed;

(d) whether the Government proposes to construct western bypass on NH-3 from Rairu to Tigra via Gole Pahadiya Girwai Naka in view of the long stretch of eastern bypass constructed earlier; and

(e) if so, the details thereof along with the time-frame set for the purpose

(a) to (e) The average traffic on Piprai-Nirawali section of National Highway (NH-3) is about 43,927 PCU. The work for Detailed Project Report (DPR) for upgradation of Piprai-Nirawali stretch has been initiated. Moreover, the procurement for preparation of DPR of bypass on Western side of Gwalior city has been started. Development of road stretches under various schemes is taken up post finalisation of alignment, cost estimates, land acquisition requirement etc. based on outcome of Detailed Project Report (DPR)/ Feasibility Study with due consideration to traffic density, up-gradation requirements, lane configuration (i.e. 2-lane/4-lane/6-lane etc.), Right of Way (ROW) determination, project viability, inter-se-priority and availability of funds.
