Question : ALLEGED DELAY IN RESPONSE BY PCR VAN



(a) whether the Government has decided to appoint an inquiry officer to probe into the allegations of delay in response by the Police Control Room (PCR) van and Safdarjung hospital staff in the recent gang rape incident in Delhi;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the inquiry officer has submitted report to the Government; and

(d) if so, the action taken by the Government against the guilty persons?

(a): Yes, Madam

(b) to (d): Ms. Veena Kumari Meena, Joint secretary (PM), Ministry of Home Affairs was entrusted with the inquiry in the matter to inter-alia look into the response of PCR Van and the role of Safdarjung Hospital staff in dealing with the victims of gang rape. A report in the matter has been submitted. After examining the report, the Delhi Police as well as the Ministry of Health and Family welfare have been requested to take departmental action against the erring officers/ officials.
