Question : NATIONAL OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME



(a) the number of scholarships provided to the students of scheduled castes, unnotified nomadics, semi-nomadics, landless agricultural labourers and traditional artisans under National Overseas Scholarship Scheme,year-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to increase the number of National Overseas Scholarships for the students of these categories; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Number of awards under the Scheme of National Overseas Scholarship to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes; Denotified, Nomadic, Semi-nomadic Tribes; Landless agricultural labourers and traditional artisans, has been increased from 20 to 30, from the selection year 2007-08. The students selected for the awards during last 3 selection years is as follows:

The selection process for the year 2010-11 is underway.

(b) & (c): No decision in this regard has been taken so far.
