Question : CANCELLATION OF RAILWAY EXAMINATIONS .



(a) Whether several railway examinations have been cancelled due to leakage of question papers;

(b) If so, the details in this regard during each of the last three years;

(c) Whether any inquiries have been conducted in these cases;

(d) If so, the outcome thereof;

(e) The action taken against the officials/persons found involved in these cases; and

(f) The concrete steps taken to check recurrence of such cases?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI R. VELU)

(a) Yes Sir. Only two examinations have been cancelled due to leakage of question papers.

(b) A statement is attached.

(c) Varanasi Police of Uttar Pradesh has been conducting the inquiry.

As regards Group ‘D’ examination, investigation is being conducted by Lucknow Police on an FIR lodged by Special Task Force, Lucknow.

(d) & (e) No inquiry reports or findings in these cases have been furnished by the Uttar Pradesh Police so far.

(f) Instructions regarding maintainability and confidentaiality of the question papers already exist and are reiterated from time to time for strict compliance.

2004 Junior Engineer/Section Railway Recruitment Board/ Engineer Mumbai 2006 Group ‘D’ Northern Railway


Written examination for the posts of Junior Engineer/Section Engineer scheduled to be held on 5.12.2004 at Solapur and Pune was cancelled due to the leakage of question paper which was found in possession of certain persons by Uttar Pradesh Police on the outskirts of Varanasi on 3.12.2004.

Group ‘D’ examination was to be held in three phases on 12.2.2006, 26.2.2006 & 5.3.2006. Examination scheduled to be held on 26.2.2006 was cancelled due to reported leakage of question paper.
