(a) whether the Union Government proposes to set up drugget clusters in view of export quality weaving of drugget at Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh and their export;
(b) if so, the time by which such drugget clusters are likely to be set up in Sitapur district; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): The Government of India is implementing Comprehensive Handloom Development Scheme, a component of National Handloom Development Programme under which financial assistance is provided to the State Governments for setting up of handloom clusters. The State Government of Uttar Pradesh had submitted proposals for setting up of two handloom clusters at Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. However, these proposals were not found viable as per guidelines of the Scheme and hence returned to the State Government of Uttar Pradesh for reformulation. Sanction of cluster projects depends on availability of funds. However on receipt of viable and complete projects in all respect from State Government, projects are sanctioned within two months in normal course.
