Question : REHABILITATION OF EMPLOYEES OF CLOSED KVIC UNITS

(a) whether some units of Khadi and Village Industries Commission are running in loss;

(b) if so, whether any policy has been chalked out to rehabilitate the employees who have been rendered jobless as a result of closure of these units;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) if so, whether the Government are taking any concrete steps to make the units of Khadi and Village Industries running in losses viable; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e): The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) does not run any unit of its own, however, the Government through the KVIC provides Grants, Interest Subsidy, Rebate, Marketing Support etc. for promotion and development of Khadi and Village Industries.
