Question : TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER



(a) whether the Government have recently finalised any agreement with Russia on transfer of technology and scientific co-operation;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the other proposed joint ventures establishments to be set up as per the agreement signed during the recent visit of the Russian President?

(a) Yes Sir, Integrated Long Term Programme of Cooperation in Science and Technology between the Republic of India and Russian Federation upto 2010 has been signed during the visit of Russian President to India in October, 2000. The agreement provides for cooperation in thrust areas related to frontiers in Science & Technology; basic research in selected areas of science; and facilitation of technology transfer to industry.

(b) & (c) Agreement provides for setting up of joint ventures and centres of excellence. Establishment of an Indo-Russian Joint Centre on Biotechnology in India is presently under consideration of the two sides.
