Question : Haemophilia

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is a fact that the cases of Haemophilia are increasing day by day across the country;


(b) whether the cost of treatment for administering Anti-Haemophilic Factor (AHF) of the patients is very expensive; and

(c) if so, the steps taken by the Government to reduce this type of cases and funds earmarked to end this disease?

(a): No database is maintained at the central level by this Ministry so far as number of Haemophilia cases is concerned.

(b) & (c): Public health is a state subject. However Under National Health Mission the Union Government supplements the efforts of State governments in providing Anti-Haemophilic factors free of cost to the patients.
The details of the budget provided to the states for Haemophilia is annexed.
