Answer given by the minister

Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister`s Office. (DR. JITENDRA SINGH)

(a): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted enquiry/investigation against 4 Ex-Chief Ministers, 28 office-bearers of political parties and 369 companies/firms during the last 3 years viz 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 (upto 31.03.2015). So far charge sheets have been filed by CBI in the concerned courts against 115 persons/firms in 38 sub-judice cases.

(b): Efforts are always made by CBI for expeditious completion of enquiry/ investigation/trial. However, main reasons for delay include the cases being under trial, litigations by the accused in different legal fora, further inves- tigation in the cases on the orders of Court, delayed execution of Letters Rogatory, pendency of closure report in Courts for consideration and orders, conversion of Preliminary Enquiry (PE) into Regular Case (RC) and complicated nature of cases taken by CBI for investigation which requires scrutiny of vo- luminous documents and examination of large number of witnesses.

(c): The details of the 38 cases which are sub-judice, as mentioned in reply to part (a) of the question, along with date of filing of charge sheet are enclosed at Annexure-A.
