Question : Projects Related to Alternative Sources of Energy

(a) the details of new projects related to alternative sources of energy that have been implemented in Tamil Nadu during the last three years and the current year;
(b) the details of total expenditure incurred on setting up of said projects during the said period in different State; and
(c) whether any new projects are under consideration in Tamil Nadu and if so, the details thereof?

(a)As per information provided by Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA), the details of the renewable energy projects implemented in the State of Tamil Nadu during the last years and the current year (upto February,2021) are given below:

(b) The state-wise details of central financial assistance provided to States including the State of Tamil Nadu for promotion of renewable energy projects during the last three years and the current year ( upto 15/3/2021) are given in the Annexure.
(c) As informed by TEDA, the following projects are under consideration in the State of Tamil Nadu:
• Establishment of 500MW solar PV Plants under PM-KUSUM scheme Component-A through Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO).
• Solar power plants of 1MW capacity with storage facilities planned by TANGEDCO at an estimated cost of Rs.6 crore in the spare land available at the substations on a pilot basis, to encourage farmers to do farming in the day time and the excess energy available will be stored and used to cater to peak hour loads.
• Setting up of 2000 MW capacity Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Project(UMREPP) through M/s NLC India Ltd.
• Under ISTS – Tranche VI with M/s SECI: Power Sale Agreement executed between M/s SECI and TANGEDCO for 500 MW SPV plants to be established under ISTS – Tranche VI.
• MOU signed with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for Solarisation of Agricultural feeder by installing 50 MW SPV plants.
• Establishment of 10MW Wind Solar Hybrid plant with storage facility in Joint Venture mode by TEDA at Kayathar Village, Thoothukudi District.
