(a): Yes, Madam. The Government has revised the National Solar Mission target of Grid Connected Solar Power projects from 20,000 MW to 1,00,000 MW by 2022, so as to increase the solar energy generation in the country. The target consist of 40,000 MW solar rooftop systems and 60,000 MW of large scale grid connected ground mounted projects.
(b): The Government has launched several schemes for promotion of solar energy in the country to achieve this target. This apart, the Government is promoting solar energy through fiscal and promotional incentives such as capital subsidy, tax holiday on the earnings for 10 years, generation based incentive, accelerated depreciation, viability gap funding (VGF), financing solar rooftop systems as part of home loan, concessional custom duty, exemption on excise duty, preferential tariff for power generation from renewables, and Foreign Direct Investment up to 100 per cent under the automatic route etc.
