(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the action taken/proposed to be taken on said memorandum ?

Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE

(SHRI HUKUMDEO NARAYAN YADAV)

(a) : Yes, Sir.

(b): Major suggestions contained in the memorandum are
(i) phasing out cross-breeding in next 10 to 15 years,
(ii) conversion of all cross-bred cattle farms into farm for indigenous breeds,
(iii) integration of Gaushalas for breeding of indigenous cattle breeds and financing such programmes,
(iv) educating farmers on benefits of indigenous breeds,
(v) promotion of draught power, uses of dung and urine etc.

(c): Last of the above suggestions is not in the purview of this Ministry. Rest of the suggestions are in tune with the proposed Ninth Plan scheme National Project for Cattle and Buffalo Breeding which strives to strike a balance among rising demand for milk, requirement of draught power and need for conservation of indigenous breeds.
