Question : AMENDMENT TO INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE ACT



(a) the details of the companies employing workers from 1000 and more, from 100 to 999 and from one to 99 along with percentage of workmen in each company, company-wise;

(b) whether the proposed amendment to Industrial Disputes Act is likely to make strong hand of the Industrialists to retrench work force since no permission is required from the Government; and

(c) if so, the steps taken to remedy the situation?

(b) & (c): Amendments in the Industrial Disputes Act are proposed to promote cordial relations between workers and employers and are based on the requirements of the social partners and in consonance with economic reforms. A cautious policy is adopted to bring about any amendments in the Industrial Disputes Act after taking into consideration all the relevant factors.
