Question : Kendriya Vidyalaya in Chhattisgarh

(a) whether the Government proposes to open Kendriya Vidyalayas in various
States/UTs of the country;
(b) if so, the number of Kendriya Vidyalayas opened in various States/UTs of the
country during the last three years and the current year;
(c) whether any proposal has been received from Chhattisgarh State Government
regarding opening of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bendranawagarh under Devbhog
block;
(d) if so, the details of action taken/proposed to be taken in this regard; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Opening of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) is a continuous process. Proposals for
opening of new KVs are considered only if sponsored by Ministries or Departments of
the Government of India/State Governments / Union Territories Administrations thereby
committing resources for setting up a new KV as well as the availability of necessary
sanction of the Government. The proposals received from various sponsoring
authorities for opening of new KVs also have to compete among other proposals under
the “Challenge Method”.
(b) During last three years i.e. 2016-17, 2017- 2018, 2018-19 and current year 104
Kendriya Vidyalayas have been opened in the country.
(c) Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has informed that no proposal has been received
from the State Government of Chhattisgarh for opening of a new KV at Bendranawagarh
under Devbhog block.
(d) & (e) Do not arise.
