Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR POWER, COAL & NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) (SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL)

(a): Under Decentralized Distributed Generation,182 projects based on Solar PV technology have been commissioned and are under operation in the country.

(b)&(c): DDG is a part of DeenDayalUpadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana (DDUGJY). In line with DDUGJ guidelines population is not the criteria for sanctioning DDG project for electrification of Village/Hamlets. Ministry does not maintain the details of number of un-electrified villages with population below 100, concerned State Government identifies the same based on survey. Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for DDG projects are prepared and submitted by Implementing Agency to Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) for sanction through State Government.

(d)&(e): Govt. of India has approved DeenDayal- Upadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana (DDUGJY) in December, 2014 with a total amount of Rs. 43033 crore. The erstwhile Rajiv Gandhi GrameenVidyutikaranYojana (RGGVY) has been subsumed into DDUGJY and now comes under RE component of DDUGJY. All un-electrified villages/habitations irrespective of population are eligible to be covered for electrifi- cation as per the guidelines of the scheme.
