(a) to (c) : Yes, Sir. A Joint Statement on cooperation in Energy and Environment between India and United States of America was signed at Agra on 22.3.2000. The main objective of the Joint Statement is to intensify further cooperation in the fields of clean energy and environment protection. The Joint Statement also envisages collaborative efforts in research, development, demonstration and transfers of clean energy and renewable energy technologies and for improving efficiency in production and consumption of energy from conventional resources. Progress in these areas can enhance availability of power and increase productivity and efficiency. In order to pursue the goals indicated in the Joint Statement, India and the United States intend to create a Joint Consultative Group on Clean Energy and Environment to foster greater bilateral cooperation, Government to Government dialogue and further encourage public and private sector cooperation in these sectors.
