Question : ANMs Training

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes to discontinue/ withdraw the Auxiliary Nurses Midwives (ANMs) training throughout the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) whether any proposal have been received from States/UTs in this regard and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government has delegated the power of continuing or discontinuing the said course with the administration of States/UTs; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

ANSWER

(a) & (b): No.

(c): Based on the request received from Government of Madhya Pradesh, not to permit ANM programme run by Private Nursing School due to surplus in ANMs, Indian Nursing Council has not conducted inspection towards enhancement of seats in Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, Government of Chhattisgarh has put a ban on admission for ANM programme i.e. from 2016-17 in view of surplus registered ANMs in their State.

(d) & (e): Indian Nursing Council considers such proposals for starting of ANM course and enhancement of seats on the basis of no objection certificate from the concerned State Government.
