Question : Pilot Training Institutes

(a) the number of pilot training institutes in the country run by the Government and in the private sector, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government is aware of the very huge cost involved in seeking commercial pilot license in the country;

(c) if so, any policy has been formulated/proposed to formulated to impart training at affordable cost through the Government and Private Training Institutes in India;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(f) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to train the pilots at affordable cost in the country?

(a) There are 34 functional Flying Training Institutes in the country for pilot training run by the Government/ Private sector/ State Government.
A list of Flying Training Institutes is attached as annexure.

(b) to (f) Pilot Training Institutes run on commercial interests and it is not possible to incentivize the institutes. However, Directorate General of Civil Aviation has recently revised the Civil Aviation Requirements on 31.07.2015 to simplify conditions under which these institutes operate. Further, Government of India does not regulate/ propose to regulate the
fee structure of these institutes.
