Question : SALE OF CARS



(a) whether there is maximum manufacturing of cars in the country at present;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the sale of cars registered in domestic and international market during the last three years and the current year; and

(d) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to boost the production, sale and export of cars and commercial vehicles in the country?

(a) & (b): As per the information received from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM), the production of cars have shown an increasing trend over the last two years. However, in recent months, the production of cars have shown a declining trend. The production of passenger cars during the last three years including the current year (upto October, 2011) alongwith the percentage of change is given below:-
