(a) whether more than 100 steel projects are being affected due to lack of environmental clearance and the problems of land acquisition for them in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof including Maharashtra; and
(c) the steps being taken by the Government to complete the said project on time?

(a)to(c): Steel is a de-regulated sector. Government plays the role of facilitator in the steel sector. Presently, 23 steel projects pending due to grant of Environment Clearance, out of which 2 steel projects are from Maharashtra. The details are given in Annexure-I. Land acquisition is a State subject. As and when the project proponents approach Ministry of Steel the matter is taken up with the authority concerned to expedite the clearance.
