(a) the salient features of the draft National Policy for the voluntary sector prepared by the Government;
(b) whether the consultations have been held in this regard with the Ministries, States and other concerned;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the time by which the policy is likely to be given effect?

(a): The Draft National Policy for the voluntary sector is yet to be finalised. However,
the salient features of the draft policy, inter-alia include: streamlining government`s rules
and regulations, providing recognition for voluntary sector to engage in development
efforts and creating an enabling environment for VOs.
(b) & (c): Yes Sir. The Draft has been formulated in consultation with concerned
Ministries, State Governments and VOs/NGOs.
(d): The draft Policy has yet to receive appropriate approvals, therefore, it is difficult
to provide any time frame, at this stage.
