Question : Training Programme for Bullet Train Project

(a) whether the Railways has sent a team of employees for training to Japan for the Bullet Train project and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Ministry proposes to put in place a full-fledged training programme for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether land has been acquired for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor and if so, the details thereof;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor and the proposed timeline for completion of the said project; and

(e) whether the Government proposes to introduce five new high-speed train corridors and if so, the details thereof?

(a) 524 Indian Railway Officers have been deputed to Japan for undergoing training on High Speed Rail (HSR) in Japan. Further, 147 employees of National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the SPV executing the project, have also been sent to Japan in a phased manner for training in Shinkansen Technology.


(b) It is planned to impart training including “on the job” training to all the employees of NHSRCL in High Speed Train Technology. Three hundred sixty (360) employees of NHSRCL are planned to be trained in Japan covering Managers, Drivers, Technicians etc. Other employees are planned to be trained in Training Institute at Vadodara.
(c) & (d) The land acquisition process for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project is in progress. So far, 548 hectare of land has been acquired out of total requirement of approx. 1380 hectare. The project is targeted to be completed by December, 2023.
(e) No, Sir. Government has sanctioned only Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project for execution with technical and financial assistance of Government of Japan.
