Question : Reconstruction of Old Railway Colonies

(a) whether the Government has any plan for demolition of very old and dilapidated abandoned quarters in Railway colonies constructed for its officers and employees;

(b) if so, whether there is any plan for demolition and reconstruction of old abandoned quarters in railway colonies in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether there is also a plan for reconstruction of dilapidated railway reservation centre in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): Railways undertake replacement of old and dilapidated quarters in railway colonies constructed for its officers and employees on regular basis, depending upon age and condition of quarters and availability of funds.

(b): Quarters which are not fit for residing at Pratapgarh are being abandoned and demolished as per extant guidelines. It is a regular process. Currently, in different projects, 36 new quarters are being constructed at Pratapgarh station by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Northern Railway Construction Organization (NRCO).

(c) to (e): There is no plan for construction of new reservation centre at Pratapgarh. Recently Reservation Centre has been renovated and is maintained as per requirement.
