Question : PLACEMENT AGENCIES



(a) whether the Government is aware that placement agencies are employing domestic servants through e-commerce sites in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether cases of cheating people by these place- ment agencies through e-commerce sites have been reported;

(d) if so, the details thereof and total number of such cases reported and the action taken against placement agencies during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise; and

(e) the steps taken by the Government to check such cases in future?

(a) to (e): No such data is available with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Further, ‘Police’ and ‘Public Order’ are State subjects under the Seventh Schedule to the Con- stitution of India and therefore, the State Gove- rnments are primarily responsible for prevention, detection, registration and investigation of crime and for prosecuting the criminals through their law enforcement agencies as also for protecting the life and property of the citizens. Therefore, the responsibility is primarily that of the State Government concerned.
