(a) whether the Government has any plans for the merger of MRTS Chennai with Chennai Metro Rail Limited and to provide surface rights of the lands to Chennai Metro Rail Limited by transferring the land value at full market value as Central Government’s equity contribution to the project; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b) : Consequent to the request of Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN), Ministry of Railways (MoR) has agreed for a study on the proposed intergation of Chennai Metro Rail project with MRTS, Chennai to be undertaken by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on 01.10.2015. The detailed Terms of Reference for the study have also been advised to CMRL on 26.07.2016. The study report is awaited.
