MINISTER OF STATE FOR NON-CONVENTIONAL ENERGY SOURCES (INDEPENDENT CHARGE), (SHRI M. KANNAPPAN)
(a), (b) & (c): There is no proposal to set up energy plants based on tidal waves in the coastal region of Tamilnadu as there is no potential site for tidal energy in this region. However, Techno-Economic Feasibility Reports have been prepared for 900 MW tidal power plant in Gulf of Kutch, Gujarat and 3 MW tidal power plant at Durgaduani Creek in Sundarbans, West Bengal. Govt. of Gujarat has carried out a pre-feasibility study for Kalpsar tidal site in Gulf of Cambay, Gujarat.
