Question : Increase in Medical Seats

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has received any proposal from States/UTs particularly from Tamil Nadu and Odisha for increasing seats for MBBS/Medical education;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the action taken thereon along with the number of seats likely to be increased, State/UT-wise including Tamil Nadu and Odisha?

(a) to (c): The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Board of Governors in Supersession of Medical Council of India after considering the proposals from the applicant Colleges for establishment of new College, increase of intake capacity in existing College and increase of seats under EWS Quota, increased 10590 MBBS seats in the country including Tamil Nadu and Odisha for the academic year 2019-20. State/UT-wise details are given in Annexure.
