(a) whether the Government is aware that All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has decided to weed out those who might have secured admission in engineering institutes on reserved seats by securing and producing fake caste certificate;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the time by which engineering colleges affiliated to the AICTE would submit the data on this subject and action proposed to be taken against students who have violated the reservation rules?

(a) to (c):Yes, Madam. Acknowledging the fact of use of fake caste certificates for securing admissions on reserved seats in the engineering colleges, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued a circular dated 05.01.2017 to all AICTE approved institutions, requesting them to create a mechanism to identify cases of fake SC/ST/OBC certificates during admission process of students and inform the same to AICTE for creation to Database of AICTE. The circular is made available on AICTE website at

The Engineering Colleges have been requested to show the data on yearly basis.
