Question : Road Connectivity Projects

(a) whether the Government proposes to improve connectivity for one hundred tourist destinations and construct bypasses for forty five towns/cities across the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of the tourist places in Maharashtra proposed for connectivity improvement along with the names of towns/cities identified for construction of bypasses in the State;
(d) whether the Government has proposed to complete about two lakh kilometers of National Highways (NHs) by the year 2022 and if so, the length of NHs proposed to be completed in the State by 2022; and
(e) the length of NHs already constructed out of the above proposed target in the State so far?

(a) to (c) Ministry has not taken up any specific program solely to improve connectivity for tourist destinations. However, Ministry has received a list of 100 tourist destinations, subsequently revised to 50 destinations, from the Ministry of Tourism for setting up of Wayside Amenities, prominent signages and beautification of the area at a distance of 15 to 20 kms on the either side of the tourist destination.
In addition, the development of ring roads around 28 cities, decongestion of about 125 choke points and 66 congestion points is part of Bharatmala Pariyojana.
(d) 12,000 km has been targeted for the construction of National Highways (NHs) in 2021-22 for the Country and 2,361 km has been targeted for completion of NHs in the state of Maharashtra during 2021-22.
(e) In 2021-22 (upto 30.06.2021), length of 2,284 Km NHs has been constructed in the country and 405 km in the State of Maharashtra.
